The display is one of the most critical things in goggles for virtual reality. The image must have the highest possible resolution, for example, so as not to bother our brain, but also so that everything looks nice. It seems like Sony’s VR enthusiasts can expect a significant improvement in their PSVR displays.

Japan Display recently announced the development of 1001 ppi and 803 ppi displays that will be designed specifically for virtual reality. They are incredibly high-resolution screens, so when we look at them with the naked eye from a short distance, the impression should be excellent.

Moreover, Japan Display is a joint venture initiative between three companies: Sony, Hitachi, and Toshiba. So it’s not hard to guess that it’s already been said in the corridors that the new displays will be the basis for the next generation of Sony PSVR. For the time being, the VR goggles from Sony have only 386 ppi. For comparison, the HTC Vive Pro has 615 ppi.
