Performance benchmarks of the integrated GPUs of Meteor Lake are emerging, showcasing comparable performance to the Radeon 780M, a component of AMD’s Ryzen ‘Phoenix’ APUs.
Intel Meteor Lake: iGPU Performance vs AMD Radeon 780M
Intel is optimistic that Meteor Lake CPUs can deliver strong graphical performance, thanks to the new Arc iGPUs, featuring 128 EUs.
The graphics leap in these processors will be notable compared to the current Iris Xe, as they will use the Arc Alchemist architecture, the same one employed by the desktop graphics cards in the Arc series.
Performance Tests
The MSI Prestige 16 AI Evo laptop was used for Geekbench 5 performance tests. It featured a Core Ultra 7 155H processor with 16 cores, 22 threads, 24 MB L3 cache, and a boost clock of 4.8 GHz. The nominal TDP of the CPU is 28W, and the iGPU was running at a clock speed of 2250 MHz.
In the Geekbench 5 OpenCL tests, the Intel Arc iGPU achieved a score of 27,249 points. This score positions it above the Radeon 780M. CPUs like the Ryzen 7940HS and 7840HS may have slightly higher scores, but they also come with higher power consumption.
We’ll need to await gaming tests to accurately assess the true performance of Meteor Lake’s integrated graphics. Fortunately, the wait won’t be long, as Intel has announced availability starting December 14th with the first laptops. We’ll keep you updated on all developments.
