Intel and AMD are already working on implementations of the Meteor Lake and Zen 4 architectures in GNU Linux compilers. The Raptor Lake processors are coming to the market shortly, while the Ryzen 7000 ”Zen 4” series have been released at the end of September.
Intel Meteor Lake and AMD Zen 4 are implemented in GCC v13
Intel and AMD are updating the GNU compiler collection at about the same time, preparing both companies for their upcoming releases.
Intel is currently focusing on Meteor Lake and Sierra Forest, while rival AMD is preparing Ryzen 7000 with the Zen 4 core architecture.
The most interesting thing here is about Intel with Meteor Lake, which will be their 14th generation of Core CPUs. At the same time, they are also working on the implementation of Sierra Forest, which belongs to the Xeon E-core processors for data centers.
The Meteor Lake processors are going to be released during 2023, while the current Raptor Lake processors are going to be released shortly.
Michael Larabel of Phoronix points out that Raptor Lake has similarities in its instruction set architecture and notes that if the developers had substituted “raptor lake” for “alder lake”, it’s quite possible that similar results would be obtained, in a rather telling piece of information.

Current and future support for GCC should be completed by April 2023 for AMD.
