Intel is planning to launch low-power processors under the Meteor Lake-U series. These new CPUs will be known as the Core Ultra 5 125U/134U and Core Ultra 7 155U/164U.
Intel Core Meteor Lake-U: 15W and 9W CPUs Revealed
There will be two classes of low-power Meteor Lake-U processors, those with a TDP of 15W (U15): Core Ultra 5 125U and Core Ultra 7 155U. Meanwhile, those with a TDP of 9W (U9) are the Core Ultra 5 134U and Core Ultra 7 164U.
These processors have been revealed by Golden Pig Upgrade, which suggests that Intel will be introducing low-power notebook processors.
As we already know, Intel has introduced a new nomenclature, which is quite different from what we were accustomed to.
Currently, Intel offers four families of notebook processors:
- The HX series with a TDP of 55W is designed for high-performance notebooks.
- The H series with a TDP of 45W.
- The P-series CPUs with a TDP consumption of 28W.
- The U series with power consumption options of 15W and 9W.
With these families, Intel covers a wide range of performance and efficiency requirements in the notebook segment, and this will continue with the introduction of Meteor Lake architecture CPUs.
The Intel Core Meteor Lake processors are expected to offer a maximum of 16 cores and 22 threads, comprising 6 performance (P) cores, 8 efficiency (E) cores, and 2 E cores in the SoC.
The first laptops featuring Meteor Lake processors are expected to be launched in December, so more information will become available in the coming weeks.
