The TecLab channel in Bilibili provided the first insight into the Core i9-10900K, the flagship of the new generation of Intel Comet Lake processors.
Intel Core i9-10900K and its first review is filtered by a Chinese medium
As the filterer, who once again uses a cover to maintain his anonymity, published a video review in which Intel’s latest chip was played off against competing AMD models. In the tests, the filter compares Intel’s Core i9-10900K with AMD’s Ryzen 9 3900X and 3950X chips.
The chip features ten cores with HyperThreading, so it can process 20 threads simultaneously and has a base frequency of 3.7 GHz, which can automatically go up to 5.3 GHz. The cores are connected to 20 MB L3 cache and the chip carries a 125 W TDP. However, based on previous leaks and TecLab test data, the chip appears to consume much more power than the prescribed TDP.
The test results are probably no big surprise; AMD chips excel in multi-threaded applications, and the 10-core Intel Core i9-10900K just can’t compete with the 16-core Ryzen 9 3950X in such applications.
Despite the two cores less, the Intel Core i9-10900K leaves the AMD models behind when it comes to low-threaded applications. In this way, the lack of cores is compensated by higher clock speeds, up to 5.3 GHz on a single core in this case.
Of course, it is important to note that game testing is often done at lower resolutions than in practice and with very powerful GPUs.
The Core i9-10900K will soon be seen with formal reviews and a full launch, just like the rest of the series. You can watch the full video by clicking on this link.
