Intel Arc Alchemist GPU with 448 execution units is in the pipeline

We are progressively learning more about Intel’s Arc Alchemist GPUs, and this time the company itself confirmed the existence of a model with 448 Execution Units, internally called DG2-448, which joins the existing models with 512, 384, and 128 UEs.

This variant was revealed in a Linux driver update that optimized the pixel pipeline to achieve performance improvements of up to 40% in certain tests, up to 30% in Dota 2, and up to 22% in CS:GO.

Unfortunately, no information other than the execution units is known, although if we assume that the 512U variant will have similar performance to the RTX 3070, this 448U variant would be placed between the RTX 3060 and RTX 3060 Ti and offer very good performance for games at 1440p. It is unclear if it will have 16 GB of GDDR6 memory and a 256-bit bus like the top version, or if there will be any trade-offs in this regard.

The Arc Alchemist desktop GPUs are expected to be announced at CES 2022 and launch in the second quarter of 2022. We will keep you updated on all further developments.
