Huawei Kirin chip being no longer in stock, could SMIC control the impact?

As we all know, from last year the United States began to sanction Huawei, this year will also be a black hand to Huawei semiconductor business, while TSMC will cease delivery of Huawei in September, Kirin chip will face a crisis.

Yesterday Huawei’s consumer business representative admitted that the Kirin chip will be out of stock, and can not be produced. Kirin chip series will not be able to be produced after September 15. At present, China’s domestic semiconductor process has not yet catalyzed, and the Huawei Mate 40 Kirin 9000 chip, is likely to become the last generation of Kirin high-end chip.

Now Huawei Kirin 710A chip has been transferred from the original TSMC Foundry to SMIC Foundry, ranges from TSMC 12nm process, main frequency 2.2GHz, four A73 2.2GHz + four A53 1.7GHz eight-core design, up until now SMIC 14nm process, up to 2.0GHz frequency, the other basically the same.

Regarding the question of whether SMIC will end up cutting Huawei’s 14nm process chips? At a recent profits meeting, Leung Mang-sung responded to questions from investors by saying, “As far as a specific customer is concerned, we certainly do not comment on a specific customer, but we do adhere to international regulations.

Leung Monson said: “We will have many other customers who are also willing to enter our limited capacity, so the impact should be manageable.”
