Helio P40 and Helio P70 full configuration of the two new chips come from MediaTek
Both the Helio P40 and the Helio P70 will be produced on a 12-nm process by TSMC. According to reports, they will appear in Q2 / 201. Here is a detailed description of the full configuration of the two new chips from Mediatek:
Helio P40
The Helio P40 consists of eight cores with four A73 cores and four A53 cores (2.0 GHz clock). The GPU is a Mali-G72 MP3, clocked at 700 MHz and it will have three ISPs (video signal processors) Supports resolutions up to 32 MP.
In addition, the Helio P40 supports 8GB LPDDR4x (1866 MHz) RAM, internal eMMC 5.1 – UFS 2.1 memory. It will also have AI capabilities with support for the TensorFlow and Cat5 LTE connectivity.
Helio P70
The P70 is also an 8-core chip with four A73 + quad-core A53 cores, but the clock speed is raised to 2.5 GHz, with the Mali G72 MP4 GPU clocking at 800 MHz.
The Helio P70 supports up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM, the LTE Cat.12 standard and also has the same AI capabilities as the Helio P40.
Reports also show Mediatek’s new chips will be available on the Xiaomi-inspired Redmi phone as well as from Gionee, OPPO or Vivo in 2018.
Meizu is apparently planning to switch to Qualcomm chips for most of next year’s products but does not rule out the possibility of introducing one or two new Mediatek chipsets.
