MediaTek introduces a new family of processors, the Helio A family. This new family comes with its new Helio A22 processor which has already been officially announced. This is a mid-range offering that seeks to compete directly with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 family. And it further demonstrates the Chinese brand’s advancement in processor production.
Helio A22: The MediaTek processor to compete with the Snapdragon 400
This is a processor that promises to be much faster than its direct competitors, being the most similar Snapdragon 429. It uses the same core as this MediaTek processor.

The Helio A22 has a total of four A-53 Cutaway cores, combined with a GE PowerVR GPU. Thanks to this, it promises to be faster than its competitors, as the Chinese brand says. You can reach a maximum speed of 2 GHz, which is 0.05 GHz faster than Snapdragon 459. The processor can use either LPDDR3 or LPDDR4x memory, depending on what the phone manufacturer wants to use.
It will support 4/6 GB in these cases. In addition, this Helio A22 is manufactured in 12 nm architecture. It is one of the first brands to be built into this architecture, so it is an important step for the firm. It will have support for single 21 MP or double 13+8 MP cameras. In addition, it will have facial unblocking with artificial intelligence.
This processor can be found in the Xiaomi Redmi 6A, although it is expected that other models will follow soon. We’ll see what models they are soon.
