Google Drive for Android adds support for password-protected Office files

Google launches an exciting update to Google Drive for Android, which will simplify the dynamics of users viewing Microsoft Office documents.

Starting with the new version of the app, users will be able to download and view password-protected Microsoft Office documents. This option was already available in the web version of Google Drive and now extends to Android, giving more possibilities to those who work from their mobile devices.

The dynamic is the same, you only need to enter the password to open, view the file, and have all the Google Drive tools available. So, if customers or part of the computer sends an encrypted Microsoft Office file, the user can view it on the fly from their mobile, without having to wait to open the web version.

Recently, the Google team has enhanced the Google Drive app features with new options, understanding the workflow of users from mobile phones, and closing the gap with the web version.

This is a small, but practical, update that improves Google dynamics from mobile devices. Along with this new support, a number of options have been corrected and performance improved.
