Sometimes it is difficult to draw a line between professional and personal life. In this regard, Google has just introduced two new features for Google Calendar: Out-of-office mode and customizable working hours.
The out-of-office mode is a new type of calendar entry that users can use when creating events in Google Calendar from the web, for example, when setting holiday dates. When you use this type of entry in your events, those events will display differently within the calendar grid.
Google Calendar will automatically reject all meeting invitations that are scheduled during these time periods. In addition, users can customize invitation rejection messages and the visibility of events under this type of entry.
If this is not enough, according to the titles of the events, Google Calendar will use Artificial Intelligence to determine if they can match the type of Out-of-Office entry, although the type of entry can also be changed manually.
And with the customisable working hours, it is intended that those workers who have irregular working hours during the same week can establish the working hours for each day separately. Google Calendar will also take into account the configuration patterns when requesting confirmations.
These two new features will be rolled out over the next two weeks to all G Suite users, although they are likely to eventually reach home users of Google Calendar as well.
