GIMP is a popular image editing program, its development team doesn’t stop working, and it has already announced the new version GIMP 2.10.4 that comes with many improvements and new features.
GIMP 2.10.4 continues to evolve to be better every day
GIMP 2.10.4 adds asynchronous font loading, which has a big impact on GIMP startup time, especially if you have a large number of files inside the font folder. GIMP no longer has to wait for all its sources to be fully loaded before it can load the rest. This translates into faster startup times and a faster workflow, as you can start editing images immediately using non-text tools and effects. The relative disadvantage is that not all sources will be available immediately. Another change related to fonts in this version is the ability to label fonts in the same way as gradients, brushes, and patterns.
Auto straighten is another new feature that comes to GIMP 2.10.4, the new Auto straighten option is available to help you automatically straighten and rotate your misaligned images, simply select the Measure tool from the tool selector, measure the angle of the horizon in the image, and click the new Straighten button.
Additional enhancements include the ability to apply multiple transformations simultaneously to the transformation filter, the dashboard widget can now display detailed memory usage, better support for saved PSD files with the Maximize compatibility option, selective tone-saturation, and a new tool options manager.
All these improvements will help make GIMP an even better tool.
