Gigabyte RX 580 Gaming Box, new external graphics card solution
This new Gigabyte RX 580 Gaming Box is based on a dock with a Thunderbolt 3 interface. That is to communicate with the computer through a 40 Gbps interface. Therefore, one of its significant limitations will be the need for a Thunderbolt 3 port on the computer to which it will connect.
And inside it has a power supply of 450W with an energy efficiency of 90% to reduce heat emission. The dock also offers a hub with three USB 3.0 ports. Regarding the video outputs, there is an HDMI port along with three DisplayPort ports.
The graphics card Gigabyte RX 580 that hides inside works at a base and turbo speeds of 1257MHz and 1340MHz respectively. Gigabyte has implemented an OC mode that further increases the frequency. That works up to 1355MHz to improve performance. This card has 8 GB of GDDR5 memory with a speed of 8 GHz and a 256-bit interface.
Finally, we highlight the cooling, by a massive fan that is responsible for generating the necessary air flow, and several copper heatpipes. Its price has not been announced.
