Gigabyte released the latest version of BIOS, which supports Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor

In addition to fixing certain bugs, improving stability, and reopening some processor overclocking options, a feature of interest is that this version of the BIOS already offers support for AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor. The Ryzen 7 5800X 3D processor is manufactured using TSMC’s 7nm FinFET process. Gigabyte has released a new BIOS to support the Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor, which features 3D V-Cache technology.

Ryzen 7 5800X3D: Gigabyte supports it on its AMD 500 and 400 motherboards

Manufacturer Gigabyte has released a new BIOS for its 500 and 400 series motherboards that enable support for the Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor with expanded cache memory.

The BIOS released by Gigabyte is based on AGESA ComboV2 PI 1.2.0.6B, which improves upon BIOS firmware 1.2.0.5, which had some bugs when running with TPM mode enabled.

Gigabyte is taking the opportunity to add support for AMD’s new CPU, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. This processor adds a total cache memory of 96 MB, much larger than the 32 MB cache memory of the current Ryzen 7 5800X.

Another new feature in the BIOS is the re-enabling of the ‘Max CPU Boost Clock Override’ option for Ryzen 5000 series CPUs.

You can download the new BIOS from the manufacturer’s support page.

Ryzen 7 5800X3D – Specifications

The processor has 8 cores and 16 threads. This CPU has a base clock of 3.4 GHz and a boost clock of 4.5 GHz. The Ryzen 7 5800X chip is about 200 MHz faster, but that’s compensated for by the extra memory cache. However, the TDP consumption is the same at around 105 W.

The total cache memory of 96 MB is split into about 32 MB of L3 cache memory and about 64 MB of cache memory located outside the chip in a single vertical stack.

The cores are the Zen 3 cores of a lifetime, which will have a similar height to the 3D V-cache memory stack. This type of incremental cache design makes this processor very suitable for certain types of tasks that benefit from CPUs with a good amount of caches, such as gaming or blockchain tasks.
