In our daily lives, stress-related body and mental health disorders are common. Thankfully, there’s an interesting and effective solution for your anxiety – a small silicone monitoring module that continuously measures your breathing and heart function. Let’s explore how this gadget can improve your well-being.
Lief module consists of various sensors designed to monitor your physiological signals.
The real-time parameters measured by this device include heart rate, breathing patterns, and stress levels.
In cases of severe stress, the Lief module provides biofeedback and helps individuals regain control over their mental and emotional state.
Is a smartphone necessary for communications with the Lief module?
Simplified Setting Module
Lief Therapeutics, founded in San Francisco, initially shared the idea of wearables for continuous health signal monitoring among four individuals. In 2014, they started developing the Lief device, and within a few months, they introduced the first prototype to the market.
The Lief device is flat, with a 6.4 mm flexible, rounded shape panel. It’s constructed using hypoallergenic medical-grade silicone to ensure it’s safe for continuous contact with the human body. The device is affixed to the chest, near the heart, to monitor ECG/EKG signals.
Immediate Response to Stress
The Lief module is equipped with two EKG sensors, two vibration motors, a 3-axis accelerometer, 64 MB of memory for data storage, and Bluetooth LE for communication. This device operates in conjunction with smartphones and continuously monitors respiratory and heart rhythms to react in case of irregularities.
It focuses on an essential metric called heart rate variability (HRV) to assess your physical and mental health. High HRV indicates a balanced state, while low HRV is associated with stress. The Lief module helps align your breathing with heart rhythms to restore balance.
The human body can naturally adapt to irregular rhythms within about three minutes. Once connected to a smartphone (Android or iOS) via a dedicated app, the Lief module’s sensors are continuously monitored, and the data is visualized. It’s powered by a built-in lithium-polymer battery with about a week of backup. Charging is via a micro USB port.
Lief offers a professional version with increased memory and advanced communication capabilities. In the Pro version, you can also communicate with web or external software, expanding its potential applications.
