Futuremark shows the capabilities of DirectX Raytracing technology

DirectX Raytracing (DXR) is a new feature of DirectX 12. That promises to revolutionize the look of video games that are to come in the years. This technology opens the doors to the use of the most advanced lighting techniques in video games. Futuremark has given a sample of the capabilities of this new and impressive technology.

Providing accurate reflections in real time is difficult since there are many challenges and limitations when using traditional methods. The combination of DirectX Raytracing feature with current practices can solve some of these challenges.

With DirectX Raytracing it is possible to produce reflections of objects that exist outside the main view of the camera, which allows offering accurate and correct reflections in perspective on all surfaces in real time.

Raytracing is not something new because this technology has been around for decades. The difference is that it will now be possible to implement it in real time. So, thanks to the excellent capabilities of the most modern GPUs.

So, with new graphics cards, it is possible to use rasterization for most renderings. And offers a smaller amount of raytracing to improve shadows, reflections, and other effects.

At Futuremark, they are proud to be one of the first developers chosen to work with DirectX Raytracing. So, this new feature will be included in a new version of 3DMark, which they hope to launch by the end of the year.
