A significant advancement comes across in the field of batteries. That is the flexible lithium-ion batteries. Flexible lithium-ion batteries do not explode in cases of abnormal conditions. Also, a researcher from the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore created a device capable of refreshing the lithium-ion batteries and restoring old cells to 95% capacity in just 10 hours.

The original idea of the project arose from the human spine, whose flexibility was the inspiration to offer this abnormal condition to lithium batteries. Also, the researchers revealed that the prototype battery has a stable voltage and high energy density. So, providing an excellent level of performance.

Researcher Yuan Yang, who directs the project, said through the official statement :

The energy density of this prototype is one of the highest recorded so far. We have created a simple and sufficient approach to produce large-scale flexible lithium-ion batterie. That is similar to the column and with excellent electrochemical and mechanical properties.

As we mentioned before, this flexible lithium battery is only a prototype. So there is still a long way to go in its development and doubts have not yet been clarified regarding the duration it will offer.
