exklim today introduced the eX Core, the world’s first portable eGPU that turns any laptop or desktop computer into a powerful ”gaming’ computer.
eX Core finds funding at Kickstarter, and the first units will be shipped in May
eX Core aims to offer players, Bitcoin miners, students and professionals a lightweight, high-performance solution to run any application at any time. This device is currently in Kickstarter, where it has quickly obtained the financing it needed to launch it on the market.
As games and applications become more graphically demanding, most laptops don’t have enough power to run demanding games. The eX core solves this problem by opening the door for any computer to have the same high-end graphics or design capabilities as the most advanced computers, at a fraction of the cost.
eX Core uses the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Factory OC, which runs at 1680 MHz and is powered by 4GB of high-bandwidth GDDR5 memory to run the most demanding PC games and video applications on the market.
The device can be handy to improve the performance of any laptop for a fraction of what it would cost to buy a new one since it is not possible to upgrade the components on a computer.
The device is connected via the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports and is provided with a 90W battery charger adapter. Its price would be $400 and is expected to be available in May for users who have participated in the Kickstarter.
