Dell presented its new line of ultrabooks for ‘workstations’ with a massive amount of RAM. These are the new Dell Precision 7530 and Precision 7730, which offer more than a simple CPU upgrade.
Dell Unveils Precision 7530 and 7730 Notebooks with 128GB of RAM
The new generation of Intel Coffee Lake CPUs is powering these laptops, using a powerful 6-core Intel Core i9-8950HK. Dell is serious about offering excellent computing power, but to accompany this processor, has wanted to add an unusually large amount of RAM, to be surplus to any task we set ourselves.
A significant advantage of mobile workstations is the amount of RAM they can take: With four SO-DIMM slots, Precision 7000 Series workstations can support up to 64GB of DDR4-2666 memory, and will soon be able to support up to 128GB, as Dell has announced that there will quickly be 32GB SO-DIMM modules.
In addition to the new CPUs, GPUs are also upgraded. The 17-inch Precision 7730 model receives a small update in this field, but the lower Precision 7530 gets a massive update. The 15-inch model now features the Quadro P3200. With previous generations, the Quadro 3000 class was only available on the 17-inch model; this seems to be a significant breakthrough.
The new Precision 7000 series will be launched in the United States on May 22nd. The Precision 7530 base price starts at $1,189. The Precision 7730 starts at $1,509.
