The Radeon RX 7900 XTX, RX 7900, and Pro W7900 graphics cards have been restricted by Dell for export to China.
Radeon RX 7900 Prohibited by Dell in China
According to reports, Dell has shared a sales advisory document to ensure that its sales staff does not sell AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 XT, RX 7900 XTX, and Radeon Pro W7900 graphics cards to China and 22 other countries.
The report comes after the ban on exporting Nvidia’s RTX 4090 graphics cards, the fastest gaming graphics card, to China. In this case, Dell seems to be complying with this regulation for AMD’s most powerful GPUs in its lineup at the moment, namely the Radeon RX 7900 XTX, RX 7900, and Pro W7900, with the latter designed for the artificial intelligence (AI) segment.

In addition, Dell is adding AMD Instinct MI210, MI250, MI250X, and MI300 GPUs to the list for the AI and HPC segment.
The new U.S. laws on the export of high-performance CPUs and GPUs to China and other countries require American and multinational companies to obtain an export license from the U.S. Department of Commerce to export to China, provided that the total processing power (TPP) does not exceed 4,800 points in products not intended for data centers.
It’s worth noting that none of the mentioned AMD GPUs in the documentation exceed the 4,800 points TPP. For example, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX has a TPP of 1962 points, making this restriction by Dell somewhat peculiar. We will keep you informed of any developments.
