Core i5-12600K proves to be better than Ryzen 5 5600X at AotS

Performance results for Intel’s i5-12600K “Alder Lake” have been published on the Internet, discovered by Benchleaks.

Core i5-12600K is faster than Ryzen 5 5600X in AotS

Intel Core i5-12600K is one of the processors in the upcoming 12th generation Core series, which is scheduled to be launched in November. This processor has 10 cores and 16 threads, consisting of 6 powerful P-cores and 4 highly efficient E-cores. The P-core chips are configured to run at a clock speed of 4.9 GHz, while the E-core chips run at a boost clock speed of 3.6 GHz, with all cores running at 3.4 GHz. The chip has about 20 MB of L3 cache.

The tests were conducted by user foxed.in, who ran Ashes of the Singularity 13 times with a Core i5-12600K, with only one of the tests completing successfully. It is assumed that the game is not yet well optimized to run on an Alder Lake processor, which uses heterogeneous technology. Therefore, each game should be optimized to better utilize the hybrid cores on Windows 11.

At the Crazy @ 1080p setting, results range from 39 fps to 110 fps, while at the Medium 1080p preset, the chip achieved between 37 fps and 40 fps. The results are erratic, and the game doesn’t seem to know which cores to use, P-core or high-efficiency E-core. It is possible that the 110 fps result is the most realistic and not the other very low results.

With that in mind, the Core i5-12600K scores 10,800 in the Crazy 1080p setting, a few points higher than the i5-11600K’s 9,800.

For comparison, the Ryzen 5 5600X scores 8,100 points in the Crazy 1080p setting, 33.3% lower than the Core i5-12600K.
