Cinebench R15 Extreme Edition is a modified version of the Cinebench R15, designed to squeeze today’s processors with many cores.
The Cinebench R15 was released several years ago and was created at a time when quad-core processors were the most advanced. Maxon was not worried about updating the software to keep up with the multi-core processors. The 16 and 32 core processors can now complete the benchmark in seconds.
Due to the short duration of the benchmark, these processors always work at 100% of their turbo speed, as the benchmark ends very quickly. This is not entirely realistic, as the processors lose some clock after a few seconds at full load.
In this sense Guru3D’s HWGeek started with the modification of Cinebench. It’s quite simple, Cinebench’s rendering resolution was multiplied by four, which makes the benchmark longer due to the higher load, allowing more reliable results to be generated for the currently available 64 thread beasts. Some textures have also been modified, making the task even more difficult.
The modified version of Cinebench R15, Extreme Edition, can now be downloaded from Guru3D.
