Although consumer virtual reality still has a lot to do, it does not prevent various entities from implementing these technologies on a large scale. That’s what happened in China, where a huge virtual entertainment park has just been opened. It is the greatest such place on our planet.
China has opened the world’s largest VR amusement park
China’s virtual amusement park was opened in the suburbs of Guiyang City in the poor Chinese province of Kuejczou. The VR park is called the Oriental Science Fiction Valley and covers an area of 134 hectares. There are 35 different attractions in the area, which use the technologies of virtual and extended reality. These include VR theatres, mountain railways and virtual space excursions.
Visitors can, therefore, do many things in virtual or expanded reality, and also find some more traditional attractions like bungee jumping with a big 53-metre robot. The project cost as much as $470 million and is now the largest facility of its kind. It is also no coincidence that such an installation has appeared in China.
China is investing heavily in new technologies to commercialise these novelties as well. The focus on modernity is supposed to relieve the dependence of the market on the traditionally understood industry. Kureczou is one of the poorest provinces in China, so such an amusement park will certainly bring some money from tourism.
