Atari VCS is a completely new Atari device from Atari, designed in California and launched a few weeks ago on the company’s official blog.
AtariVCS, Atari’s new console at Indiegogo
It has partnered with AMD to provide the custom Atari VCS processor with Radeon Graphics Technology and offers support for the 4K resolution, HDR and 60FPS content, integrated storage options, dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0, as well as USB 3.0 support.
The official website is now available on atarivcs.com, where they indicate that the pre-sale of their new platform will begin on May 30th exclusively at Indiegogo, with a collector’s edition with a special wooden front inspired by the retro version. In addition to the collector’s edition, fans will have the option to order the Atari VCS Onyx, an elegant black version. Early-bird Atari VCS packages, including Onyx, will be offered to start at $199 for a limited period of time. Other packages will include the classic joystick and the modern controller.
Atari VCS’ initial shipments are scheduled for spring 2019, and those who register via email on its website will receive special incentive purchase alerts during pre-sales.
The updated classic joystick and the new modern Atari VCS controller are being developed in partnership with leading video game peripheral manufacturer Power A. Both items will be available in selected packages and as separate purchases.
They say the Atari VCS will be a fully customizable entertainment experience, with access to a wide range of games, media and streaming content options. As a tribute to the past, Atari VCS covers the classics with the Atari vault from more than 100 classic games, including classic arcade and entertainment favorites such as Asteroids®, Centipede®, Breakout®, Missile Command®, Gravitar® and Yars ‘Revenge®; a growing list of games, especially a full range of popular modern titles, will be announced later.
