ASUS has finally put on sale its new motherboard designed for ASUS ROG OC X299 Rampage VI Apex overclockers. That was presented during Computex 2017 and featured a very aggressive PCB design with great options. The new motherboard has 4 DDR4 DIMMs and 2 DIMMs. That allows the installation of an additional PCB to install two M.2 NVMe drives, while the PCIe 3.0 slot configuration is specially prepared with four PCIe x16 slots for configurations Of four graphics cards.

ASUS has detailed the operating modes of its PCIe 3.0 slots according to the number of installed graphics cards and the installed CPU since according to the connected processor they change the number of available PCIe lanes. If something catches the eye is that it has been limited to the CPUs of 28 lines to only two GPU configurations. So that one comes with sacrificing this possibility in exchange for giving the 16 complete lines to SLOT 1.
The new DIMM.2 accessory has also been updated; now the PCB has perforations to improve cooling and support for 40mm fans, jumpers to turn the units on and off and two temperature sensors.
ASUS ROG OC X299 Rampage VI APEX most compact and complete board
As for connectivity, we have a Gigabit network, WiFi 802.11 AC + Bluetooth system. And a considerable selection of front and rear USB ports. That include USB 3.1 Gen2 Type C ports. As for cooling, ASUS has opted for a double sink for the VRM. That connects to a single heat pipe communicating both. That is a solution we have seen on many of the AMD X399 boards and which we are happy to see also on the Intel platform. Neither could ASUS AURA RGB LED lighting or the upper right zone complete with many overclocking features.
