Qualcomm Tech Summit in Hawaii presents the big giant Microsoft and Qualcomm which boast of their ARM devices with Windows. That makes use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processors and offers up to 22 hours of battery life. Microsoft calls these “always connected PCs” because they have LTE connectivity.
ASUS Novago Snapdragon Chip
It is the new Asus NovaGo, a 2-in-1 computer that uses the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chip. That is the same chip as in the high-end smartphones like the Galaxy S8 or Pixel 2. But it comes with Windows 10 as the operating system. With this design, the gap between cell phones and PCs reduces. Also, take into account that the laptop NovaGo has support for Gigabit LTE and thus receive the direct 4G connection.
ASUS launches its new FX503 gaming notebook
Combine Windows and Snapdragon is a pretty great idea. But it works very well for laptop computers thanks to the particular version of the operating system, Windows 10 S. The raw power and software solution combine to achieve a computer that has capabilities well above its performance. And with efficient energy consumption, it behaves more like a smartphone than a PC. The previous time that something similar was tried, with Windows RT on the Surface tablets. However, they did not find much success, but the NovaGo of ASUS is in the chance to rematch.
ASUS Novago Retina Scanner
The new hybrid of Asus has the retina scanner Windows Hello to unlock it, like the voice assistant Cortana. Its low weight of less than a kilo and a half makes the NovaGo feel more like a big smartphone than a computer. But the Windows experience is still there so you can work as usual. The equipment will come with up to 8GB of ram, 64 or 256GB storage disk. Also, the 1080p multitouch screen comes with the stylus and the Snapdragon as mentioned above 835 processor, the same as the Galaxy S8.
This time there is no hibernation mode, but when closing the lid, it will enter a state of low consumption, similar to what happens with a screen-off smartphone. That allows you to have an instant power on, like an “unlock” on smartphones. The background tasks will process by using some of its eight cores. That will be put into operation only when the user is at the front of the machine.
ASUS launches ROG Swift PG27VQ monitor
Another interesting point of this new merger between Qualcomm and Asus is the useful life of the battery. As its processor occupies so little space, there is plenty of room to expand the array. That, together with the low power consumption and optimization of the Snapdragon 835 processor, allows it to have up to 22 hours of continuous video playback. That is almost a week of battery in daily use. Also, we can have a month of “Stand By” without needing of recharge.
