ASUS delivers Free Cooling Kits with its TR4 motherboards

ASUS understands that AMD’s new second-generation, brand new threadripper processors are larger than a traditional AM4 socket chip, with more cores and much more performance. That’s why they supply Zenith Extreme, ROG Strix X399-E Gaming and Prime X399-A cooling kits with their TR4 motherboards.

ROG Zenith Extreme, ROG Strix X399-E Gaming, and Prime X399-A Socket TR4 are supplied with free cooling kits.

To better manage the second generation of AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors, which are equipped with up to four active arrays in the MCM (Multichip Module), ASUS is giving away free cooling kits to the owners of their TR4 socket motherboards.

The kits include a bracket that allows us to connect a 40mm fan to the VRM heatsink. The “SoC heat sink” is used to cool the SoC power phase MOSFETs (which now have to carry the load of four SoC arrays).

The Zenith Extreme Kit also includes a 10mm fan and a 40mm fan connected to one of its 4-pin PWM heads. The kit will not be included on current or future X399 motherboards not sold by ASUS. Customers who need it should contact their local ASUS office who will review the purchase of our ASUS X399 motherboard and send a free kit.

This seems to be a very good detail of ASUS, although we wonder if the MOSFET range wouldn’t get too hot on these TR4 motherboards without this kit, especially if we are using a Threadripper 2990WX.
