Taichi X399M, X299M Extreme 4: ASRock will present two new Micro ATX motherboards during CES 2018

ASRock prepares its landing at the big CES 2018 fair with two new micro ATX motherboards. One of them comes as a surprise since it is the first motherboard in the world of chipset AMD X399 with the monstrous socket TR4. While the second model maintains the format but passes to the enthusiast socket of the Intel X299 competition.

ASRock will present during the fair the interesting Taichi X399M, a motherboard with a clear objective to a workstation of small size. But that retains all the features for any gamer who wants to dare with AMD Threadripper. The new model keeps the usual aesthetics of the Taichi models with a strict set of grays and blacks. While ASRock has not wanted us to lose many features in this small format except for not having 8 DIMM slots.

The new model incorporates four DDR4 DIMM slots to make use of the full potential of the quad-channel memory that supports the processor. In it, we can see three M.2 slots placed very intelligently between the only space available between the PCIe slots. And on the side of the motherboard thanks to the area saved by the missing DIMMs. The storage is completed with a U.2 port and 8 SATA 3 ports that perfectly cover all needs.

As for PCIe slots, we have three PCIe 3.0 x16 reinforced slots, which should have 16 PCIe lines each thanks to the AMD Threadripper features. So it is possible to install two GPUs and take advantage of the central slot for a high-speed SSD. Or use the extra space to separate both cards.

The motherboard has two Gigabit Ethernet networks and 802.11ac Wifi network. Thus completing all the connectivity needs of the equipment. Finally, the electrical design consists of 11 Dr.Mos phases that are fed through two 8 Pin EPS connectors. This model is cooled by two heatsinks connected by a perfectly hidden copper heatpipe.

As for the Intel version, we will see for the first time the X299M Extreme 4, a model. That has the same intentionality as the AMD version but with more small features since the Wi-Fi network has been dispensed with, and the U.2 port. Or the reinforcement for the third PCIe slot.

This new model will have a supply of 11 Dr. Mos phases through a single connector of 8 Pin EPS. In addition to being cooled by two powerful heatsinks that curiously have a size superior to the AMD version, reaching to occupy the zone I / Or the motherboard.

For the rest of the features, we will have two M.2 slots. Also, there are two Gigabit Ethernet networks and eight SATA 3 ports.
