One of the most important components of the future office will be the extensive use of 5G connectivity. This will be made possible by new 7c and 8c chips for laptops that will be available by 2020, enabling new laptops to take full advantage of fast Internet access. According to Qualcomm and Microsoft, the future should belong to hardware like Microsoft Surface Pro X based on ARM.

The Snapdragon XR2 chipset, designed for devices that use mixed reality, will also be an important step forward. An example of the use of this solution could be seen in a conversation between a person and a mechanic who, through glasses with an XR2 chip, could guide the other person virtually through the entire process of repairing the car.

These solutions are also complemented by appropriate software – as Microsoft representatives claim – “tailor-made for the business customer”. These are above all the new functions of Windows 10 and the Office 365 Office Suite.

Although both Qualcomm and Microsoft are talking about the “office of tomorrow,” we have to admit that this should be relatively quick. Within a few months, we should see a migration of laptops with the new Snapdragon 7cx and 8cx chips, and the appearance of laptops with Snapdragon XR2 chip is also a matter of time.
