According to Apple’s explanation to The Verge, the error caused the Smart HDR system to select the wrong frame for the HDR technology being processed, after using a frame with a faster shutter speed instead to freeze the motion and capture more detail by selecting a frame with a slower shutter speed.

Due to the longer shutter speed and the fact that the iPhone XS front camera does not have the optimal image stabilization, the quality of the shot resulted in a less detailed and blurry image with a blurred appearance.

So many critics have led Apple to solve the problem for the next iOS 12.1, where the camera is expected to choose the sharpest frame for more detailed and undistorted shots.

In any case, version 12.1 of the ios is already in beta and will soon be available to everyone, so iPhone XS users can say goodbye to Beautygate as it will disappear with the update.
