Over the past few months, the market for smart speakers has experienced very high growth. In fact, today the major technology manufacturers have their own virtual assistant in the form of speakers. Apple’s HomePod is one of the newest alternatives, and everything seems to indicate that Apple is already working on several important new features.
As they claim from the French iGeneration website, the next version of the HomePod operating system could include some of the most popular features for current users of the device. Specifically, one of the most interesting features would be native support for phone calls. Although we can now start a call on the iPhone and continue it on the HomePod, the new feature would allow us to start and receive calls directly on the smart speakerphone, which would be a big plus.
In addition to the above, the source states that Apple would have incorporated another of the features that Siri users of the HomePod miss. This is the possibility of setting multiple timers. Although alternatives like Alexa and Google Home allow us to set several timers (very useful if we are cooking), today Apple’s HomePod only allows us to have one timer active at a time.
Finally, we would like to point out that HomePod could receive Spanish language support, which could indicate its launch in new countries. Of course, it’s important to note that we don’t have official confirmation from Apple at this time, so we’ll have to wait to see if the features we’re talking about become available.
