The American Nimbus Data announces a record SSD unit of 100TB

U.S. professional products firm Nimbus Data recently announced a new SSD drive. That sets a record for 3.5″ format capacity and SATA interface over Samsung’s recently published 30TB drives. Specifically, the new ExaDrive DC100 offers a capacity of 100TB. That are far from looking for the best SSD speeds on the market. So, that proposes to improve storage, space and power consumption needs in large data centers.

Specifically, the new units would allow up to 100TB to be installed in a single server rack. Where they are typically housed today and only in the most modern HDD servers with a capacity of more than 10TB. So the advantages are apparent. From the new unit, we know that it will reach up to 100,000 IOPS in random read and write. That leaves it at about four times less than the group presented by Samsung, although the latter has a SAS interface.

Nimbus Data has also talked about offering 50TB units based on this new model. That should theoretically provide a better price level than 100TB. Although as always in this type of advertisement, records are broken when these drives reach the market. Since many of them that claimed to exceed the recording capacity as was the Seagate drive, have never entered the market.
