AMD Zen 5 Architecture Officially Announces 2024 Release: 4nm/3nm Node Process, Improved AI and Machine Learning Performance

AMD is shedding light on its Zen 4 and Zen 5 CPU architectures, which will be available in the next few years. The company has revealed plans for its next generations of products, including the Ryzen series for desktop and portable devices.

AMD Zen 5 with V-Cache is slated for 2024

AMD Ryzen plans are revealed, where they confirm that the Zen 5 core architecture is going to be available in 2024, with a 4nm and 3nm process node.

The revelation was made at AMD’s Financial Analyst Day, where they confirm these 4 and Zen 5 cores, although they haven’t gone any further. However, we know what the company’s plans are until 2024 in this segment.

Mark Pepermaster confirmed that the Zen 4 architecture is going to bring an improvement in IPC performance of between 8% and 10%. He also commented that Zen 4 delivers 25% more performance per watt and a 35% overall improvement over the Zen 3 architecture. The company has shown a chart with the performance improvement based on Cinebench.

Zen 4 is going to have three iterations, Zen4, Zen4 V-Cache, and Zen4c, without giving many details regarding the implementations, or if they all belong to the consumer market. What they did confirm is that it will launch before EPYC Genoa, which is good news for consumers, using the 5nm and 4nm process nodes.

AMD has confirmed that Zen 4 and Zen 5 are going to feature V-Cache technology (no mention of 3D).

Processors with Zen 5 cores are going to hit the market starting in 2024 with 4nm and 3nm process nodes. Like Zen 4, it will also have three iterations: Zen5, Zen5 V-Cache, and Zen5c.

What they have commented aboutZen 5 is that it will improve performance and efficiency over Zen 4. It will also be a more optimized architecture for AI and MI applications. Although they haven’t given details on the expected performance improvements by this architecture in numbers. We’ll keep you posted.
