AMD is sticking to its timetable to the very last detail. Therefore it has been officially determined that Zen4 will have 5 nm and will come in 2022. All the details in there.
AMD knows that this has only just begun, so they need to follow the same line of work they have done so far. So it’s important to set a roadmap for the development and release of their chips, but even more important is to implement it. That’s why AMD announced Zen4, 5nm node processors and the RDNA2 GPU at the Financial Analyst Day.
AMD Zen4 “Genoa”: The 5nm Generation
AMD didn’t want to give us too many details, but they said that the GPU will optimize the architecture by providing high-performance computing, AI and additional features. They wanted to focus on RDNA2 for HPC.
Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, spoke about the development that has taken place in the company during this time.
The last five years have been very interesting, but now we need to talk about the future and we will discuss the development of the next five years.
As a matter of fact, Su said that if we ask an AMD employee about the situation, everyone will tell us that the company is excited about what’s coming. It has to be said that Lisa Su has a gift for the hype surrounding the future of AMD chips.
Lisa pointed out two key factors that excite her: AMD’s influence on the industry is now much greater and there are more resources available. It looks like AMD had a pretty tough time there in 2017 when this whole journey began. Looking at the problems with Intel improving the manufacturing process, we obviously do think that.
AMD’s ongoing commitment to being the leader in high-performance computing is our mission, and we are very good at it. Frankly, few companies in the industry can do this.
Once again, Lisa is publicly showing her pride in her membership, leadership, and representation of AMD. Undoubtedly we have to be happy about this situation of AMD because after many years of domination with Intel the situation is more interesting and above all, there is more competition. We benefit from all this.
If we look at the roadmap, it would make sense to see the arrival of Zen4 and 5nm in 2022. However, the experience is wise, and we often see changes in the plans. We have already seen them on AMD with the change of the Zen3 node from 7nm+.
