AMD has concluded these security issues and the patches that will arrive in the coming weeks. So, ensuring that no BIOS update will affect the performance or capacity of the affected CPUs.

Next, we see the risk involved in each of the vulnerabilities detailed by AMD.

MasterKey

  • The attacker can circumvent the security controls of the Ryzen platform. These changes are persistent after a system reboot.

RyzenFall and Fallout

  • The attacker can bypass the security controls of the platform, but it is not persistent after rebooting the system. The attacker can install malware that is difficult to detect in SMM (x86).

Chimera

  • Chimera affects the Promontory chip that is present in many motherboards AM4 and TR4, and all those server platforms AMD EPYC, Ryzen Embedded and AMD Ryzen Mobile FP5. AMD clarifies that the Promontory chip was not designed by them but by an external provider, with whom they will work together to launch a patch as soon as possible.

AMD says that the first updates come to solve these vulnerabilities will be launched in the coming weeks. But they have not given a specific date.
