AMD turns as largest 7nm customer of TSMC and accelerates PlayStation 5 manufacturing

Asian site MyDrivers reported that TSMC has expanded its wafer production capacity for 7nm and the biggest beneficiary of this has been AMD, which has become TSMC’s biggest customer in this node.

7nm, AMD turns as largest 7nm customer of TSMC and accelerates PlayStation 5 manufacturing,

Unfortunately, if you were expecting this news meant an increase in the inventory of Ryzen 5000 processors or Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards, you were mistaken; because it is implied that AMD will allocate all those extra wafers for the production of silicon that will breathe life into the new PlayStation 5.

This also means that we will continue to see the same shortage of Xbox Series X/S consoles, processors, and graphics cards.

Furthermore, this seems to confirm the news about the huge sales that Sony is experiencing with the new PS5, namely that the company has already sold 3.4 million units in the first month, which is crazy.

However, it’s important to point out that both Microsoft and Sony sell all the consoles that hit the market, but it’s true that PlayStation 5 owners have been smarter when it comes to booking more silicon for their console, which translates into a higher number of sales.

AMD is now TSMC’s largest 7nm customer, but it looks like this will only benefit PlayStation 5 stock.
