AMD Ryzen Players Leverage the Advantages of DirectX 12 for Hitman 2 Game

Hitman 2, version 2.20, received support for DirectX 12, which was released last Tuesday, with the game on the market for about 4 months. You can check below before you activate DX12 to see if it is really beneficial for your system. Test platform: Intel i7 8700K, MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC, 16GB Crucial Ballistix DDR4, Corsair HX1200i.

In comparison, we can see that activating DirectX 12 mode doesn’t seem very advantageous, especially for Nvidia graphics cards. However, it confirms something that was known a long time ago, Nvidia’s Pascal architecture cannot exploit the full potential of DX12, which Polaris AMD can do better.

Let’s now come to the comparison of the processors:

With a GTX 1070, the i7-8700k achieves an astonishing 91 FPS on average with a minimum of 34, the Ryzen 7 2700X doesn’t lag behind and gets 88 and 22 FPS respectively. However, the activation of DirectX 12 both starts slightly lower their average performance, but the Ryzen manages to at least double its FPS.

In short, is it worth using DirectX 12 in Hitman 2?

The answer is “NO” if you are using an Nvidia graphics card with an Intel processor number. But if you’re using an AMD card, and especially if you’re using a Ryzen processor, yes.
