Lenovo seems to be working on a new laptop Yoga 14 with the AMD processor Ryzen 7 4800U. It will be an Ultrabook-class laptop, but thanks to the Renoir APU that powers it, the performance it will offer will be amazing.
AMD Ryzen 7 4800U at 27W achieves a 34% performance increase over the 15W TDP base model
A Lenovo manager from Beijing has shared the Cinebench R20 ratings for Yoga 14S, and that’s great. Take a look for yourself:
The Lenovo Yoga 14s has a Ryzen 7 4800U under the hood that runs on a 27W cTDP. It scores a whopping 3,573 points in the multicore Cinebench R20 test, complemented by 483 points in the single-core test. Thus, the 4800U is ahead of the Intel Core i7-9700K (a desktop part with a 95W, 130W TDP under full load) in terms of both single and multithreading capabilities.
The standard model of the Ryzen 7 4800U comes with a 15W TDP, but the processor used by the Lenovo Yoga 14S comes with an unlocked 27W TDP that unlocks the full potential of this processor.
The Ryzen 7 4800U is between the Ryzen 5 3600 and 3600X desktop in terms of performance and surpasses the Core i5-9600K and i7-9700K by a decent amount. Thanks to the 7nm Vega-8 graphics, paired with the APU, you can expect over 30 FPS for most modern titles at 1080p and low quality.
The power increase between the 15W Ryzen 7 4800U and the 27W model is 34.4%. There are high hopes that a large number of laptops will be using Ryzen APU processors later this year, given their results compared to the competition. We will keep you informed.
