The AMD Ryzen 5000 APUs will be introduced next year under Cezanne’s code name for the notebook segment. Initial leaks have indicated that Cezanne’s generation of APUs will offer a new Zen core architecture along with faster Vega graphics, and a filtered entry in SiSoftware’s database seems to confirm this information.
AMD Ryzen 5000 ‘Cezanne’, new information from SiSoftware
The filtered data was discovered by Rogame, and the APU, which is part of the “Celadon CZN Renoir” platform, was tested on the reference set. There are no specific details on CPU specifications, but GPU details are mentioned.
The integrated graphics includes 8 processing units based on an improved version of the Vega graphics architecture. Each CPU accommodates 64 stream processors for a total of 512 stream processors. This is the same number of cores as the existing flagship Ryzen 4000 ‘Renoir’ APU. The most interesting part is the clock speed, which is 100 MHz higher than all Ryzen 4000 Series APUs.
The AMD Ryzen 7 4800U and Ryzen 9 4900H have 8 Vega CUs based on the improved 7nm process node but have a clock frequency of 1750 MHz. The Vega GPU on the Cezanne-specific APU has a clock rate of 1850 MHz, which is 100 MHz higher than the Renoir APUs. There are some performance metrics, but according to reported clocks, it is expected that a Cezanne APU will deliver about 5% more TFLOPs than the Ryzen 4000 Renoir APU.
However, in the final versions of this chip, the clocks can be much faster. AMD’s Ryzen 4000 Renoir desktop APUs from AMD already have clock speeds of up to 2100 MH, so it would not be surprising if Cezanne’s graphics could have these speeds.
Although laptops with AMD Ryzen 4000 mobile processors have been introduced to the market, laptops with up to RTX 2060 graphics cards are clearly not enough to satisfy the needs of all gamers, so in the high-end laptop market, Intel’s mobile platform is still the best choice for users. For AMD to gain a strong position in the high-end notebook market, it also depends on the AMD Ryzen 5000 mobile APU, which will be launched next year.
However, so far we have only been able to confirm the design of the Ryzen 5000 ‘Cezanne’ APU, which will use the new Zen 3 CPU architecture while further improving the performance of the Vega core.
