The well-known filter Igor Wallosek has given complete information about the specifications of AMD Renoir desktop APUs, which will probably be part of the Ryzen 4000 series.
AMD Renoir, Ryzen 4000 Desktop APU specifications filtered
AMD’s Renoir APUs will offer an incredibly powerful Zen 2 CPU core along with a high capacity Vega iGPU that will allow games to be played in a reasonable configuration (1080p) without having to buy a dedicated graphics card.
The AMD flagship ‘Renoir’ Ryzen 4000 desktop will have 16 threads and a massive 512 shader number. There was a time when this number was only found on high-end GPUs, but now low budget players can find it in an AMD APU. With a frequency of 1.75 GHz, this iGPU has a capacity of 1.8 TFLOPs of graphics performance. This performance is about the same as a normal PS4.
The TDP is also only 65 W, which is absolutely crazy considering the power contained in the tiny chip designed for 7 nm.
Up to 12 OPNs have been filtered out in this listing, although it should be added that this is an OEM specification sheet and not all of it will end up in stores or retail outlets. The less powerful part has 6 CUs, which is about 384 shaders up to 1.7 GHz for about 1.3 TFLOPs of power.
This would mean that the days in the world of dedicated entry-level GPUs, such as Nvidia’s MX series, are numbered. Competitors in this segment will have to start offering more powerful entry-level GPUs, or fall behind when AMD’s APUs outpace them.
3DMark 11 Benchmark for overall performance:
AMD Ryzen 4000G Series Desktop CPU – 5659 points
Portable AMD Ryzen 7 4800U ‘Renoir’ CPUs – 6309 points
Portable AMD Ryzen 7 4700U ‘Renoir’ CPUs – 5713 points
We can expect the Ryzen 4000 series ‘Renoir’ desktop CPUs to be launched in the second half of this year for low-cost PC platforms (B550 and A520). We will keep you informed.
