A couple of days ago the Radeon RX 5500 was on display in the GFX Bench and showed much lower performance than the RX 5700 XT. So today we have new information, this time about the release date.
The RX 5500 is a new low-end Navi-based graphics card
Assuming the reports are correct, the graphics card is available in both desktop and laptop systems and provides a cost-effective alternative to the AMD Radeon RX 5700 series graphics cards.
It has been reported that the new AMD RX 5500 will have 1408 stream processors, a 128-bit memory bus, and between 4 and 8GB of GDDR6 memory, although the clock speeds of this graphics card are still unknown, if this information is true, we will know next week.
With the 1408 SP, the Radeon RX 5500 GPU has the same number of processing units as the Nvidia GTX 1660, which contains 1408 CUDA cores. That means 22 arithmetic units in the Radeon RX 5500, 45% less than the AMD RX 5700 XT.
AMD’s Radeon RX 5500 will be unveiled next Monday, October 7th, so we will soon be learning much more about AMD’s low-end Navi graphics cards. We’ll keep you posted on what’s going on.
