Thanks to some slides of AMD filtered by InformaticaCero and Videocardz. We find the existence of several AMD APUs aimed at the mobile environment. These new AMD APUs are based on Ryzen 5 and 3 and incorporate Vega 11 and Vega 8 graphics for the most powerful graphics power to date in an APU (except the APU filtered yesterday by SiSoft Sandra or the custom Xbox One X and PS4 Pro).
AMD is preparing APU Ryzen 5 and 3 Mobile with Vega 11 and Vega 8 graphics
Firstly, the new Ryzen 5 2400G and Ryzen 3 2200G comes to business. In which G means the most potent versions graphically of these APUs that will come with a TDP of 65W. The Ryzen 5 2400G incorporates a quad-core and eight-core CPU, while the included Vega 11 GPU features 11 CU and 702 Stream Processors. On the other hand, we have the new Ryzen 3 2200G. That lowers its CPU to a quad-core processor without SMT. So it will only have four wires, and its GPU reduces to 8 CU and 512 Stream Processors.
Both APUs represent a pretty striking option regarding powerful CPUs. And comes with a shallow graphics gamer level for those computers without dedicated GPU. And according to AMD, there will be 35W versions that we imagine will be cut out of frequencies.
On the other hand, we have the “U” series of mobile processors come with a TDP of 15W oriented to deficient power equipment. So, that is far from following Intel’s strategy of offering just a little more frequencies in this range. Also, these features have been provided as best CPU or GPU depending on the case.
Ryzen 7 2700U offers a quad-core processor and eight threads at 3.8 GHz (maximum with a turbo?). Also, there is a Vega 10 GPU with 10 CU and 640 Stream Processors. Also, Ryzen 5 2500U offers the same CPU as the previous APU but at 3.6Ghz of maximum. But the GPU drops to 8 CU and 512 Stream Processors. Finally, we have the new AMD Ryzen 3 2300U with a quad-core CPU without SMT, which offers a GPU of 384 Stream Processors.
Of course, the new APU looks very interesting, especially for its extremely low consumption in the case of the series “U” despite retaining some specifications from my point of view quite competent. I am sure that these new APUs will give rise to the modern fascinating portable equipment of price and performance, while we can not forget that these will also appear in teams of small size and consumption for the environment on the table.
