AMD has just introduced its latest ‘System on Chip’ custom system that includes a Ryzen ‘Zen’ CPU with a single Vega GPU! This chip, which is essentially an APU, was developed for Chinese gaming PCs and consoles.
In short, these new SoCs can be considered a version of the Ryzen Raven Ridge processors with steroids! That is, systems with these products will easily outperform the Xbox One and PS4 consoles.
Processor Specifications
These new SoCs include a Ryzen’Zen’ processor with 4 cores and 8 threads! With a basic frequency of 3.0 GHz, it also counts with 8 MB L3 cache memory and 2 MB L2 memory! All this in a 35W TDP package.
As for the GPU, it will be a Vega graphics processor with 24 CUs! That is 1536 stream processors with a frequency of 1.3GHz.
This corresponds to a computing power of 4 TFLOPs at maximum frequency. Very similar to the Intel Kaby Lake-G processors, but this time with the same CPU and the same GPU chip.
This custom SoC has a 256-bit memory interface on the GPU that supports up to 8GB of GDDR5 memory, including 128GB SSD, 1 HDD 1TB, and VR support.
This new PC was demonstrated in the cabin of the Subor in ChinaJoy! The largest exhibition for digital games and entertainment in China. Subor wanted to launch its new PC Gaming at the end of August. Already the SUBOR console, with the same hardware, but with an adapted operating system, will not be on the market until the end of the year!
In short, AMD is working with Zhongshan Subor on a new console for the Chinês market! This was demonstrated for the first time at the ChinaJoy 2018 trade fair.
At the same time, they will also start PC gaming with this SoC at the end of August! With the price of $600-700.
