Microsoft has announced that it has blocked the ability to download the Meltdown and Specter security patches on computers running an AMD processor. And this is because the company has not done its testing work so well. And they are increasing users with AMD equipment that after installing the updates the computers are not able to boot. Apparently, the latest cumulative update KB4056892 (2018-01) causes computers with AMD processors to refuse to boot.

Microsoft has suspended the distribution of patches to PCs running AMD processors and stated the matter. In this statement, Microsoft blames AMD engineers for not providing its proper documentation to develop their patches. And because of that, they were not even able to test the patches on AMD machines. And to see the result they presented before launching them.
“Microsoft has reports that some customers with AMD equipment. As they are seeing how their computer fails to boot after installing the latest security updates of the Windows operating system,” Microsoft said in its official statement.
“After investigating, Microsoft has determined that some AMD chipsets do not conform to the documentation previously provided to Microsoft to develop mitigations for the Windows operating system to protect against chipset vulnerabilities known as Specter and Meltdown.”
Although Microsoft said it is working with AMD to solve the problem. And also, how users can install this update if they can not boot the system. And many of these users may not know that the problem is linked to this update, since which is automatic.
