Amazon Echo Sub smart speaker stands to rival Apple’s HomePod

This is the Echo Sub, a loudspeaker that can be connected to the other Echo devices already on the market and, obviously can also be connected to those that will be launched in the coming months. Thanks to this connection, the Echo Sub, accompanied by one or two speakers from the same family, can form a high-quality sound system.

Amazon has announced a brand-new additional subwoofer for its Echo Smart Speakers. Simply called Echo Sub, the unit measures 202 x 210 mm and weighs about 4.2 kg, giving the Echo music experience a good bass.

The subwoofer Echo Sub offers 100 W low bass through a 6-inch woofer. In combination with the Echo unit, the subwoofer can play music in the room and can easily be activated by voice command. It has a maximum acoustic power of 103dB and a sound frequency of 120 Hz to 150 Hz with an adaptive bass filter.

Echo Sub has a single connector on the back and is intended for the mains plug. On the other hand, it connects via dual-band Wi-Fi, which is compatible with 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 and 5 GHz) network standards.

Please note that it is not compatible with the connection to ad-hoc Wi-Fi (or peer-to-peer) networks. You can access and control it through the Alexa application available on Fire OS, Android, and iOS devices.

How much does the Amazon Echo Sub cost?

It is currently available as a separate unit and is pre-sold for approximately $129 and will arrive on October 11th. There is also a combination of stereo speakers that saves us 24% of the cost ($249). As usual, these echo stereo speakers are available in anthracite, heather grey or sandstone.

The Echo Sub was not the only filtered device. We also have the Smart Plug (pictured below), an intelligent plug that allows you to call Alexa from any household outlet. Of course, you don’t have a speaker, but thanks to this device you can control other home devices compatible with the Assistant. The leak says it will cost 95 euros, but that’s unlikely. Like the Echo Sub, it’s best to wait for the official price.
