Adobe has announced a number of enhancements to its Adobe XD CC design software, one of the most important of which is that you can now get it for free with a new startup plan that offers full access, including the Typekit and CC libraries.
Adobe XD CC gets a new update, now you can use it for free
The goal is for designers to become familiar with the new Adobe XD CC software and eventually purchase a Creative Cloud subscription. To achieve this, the company is putting significant effort into XD, with monthly updates to include new features. Some of the improvements in this month’s update include better integration with Photoshop and Sketch. This allows the user to easily drag and drop a PSD file directly onto the XD icon and start working with it. You can also password protect your design specifications, which is particularly useful for security when working with a computer.
Other added features are intended to make the user’s job a little easier. Designers can now drag and drop symbols onto others, updating all copies of that symbol. It can also be glued on several work tables, saving even more time. The Adobe XD Starter plan is now available, if you need access to the full range of Creative Cloud benefits, such as 100GB of cloud storage instead of the free 2GB level, Adobe offers a single application plan for $9.99 per month.
Adobe also announced the Adobe Fund for Design, a $10 million fund to help designers and developers with third-party tools and services, through a series of grants and investments.
