Acer today announced that several of its most famous Windows 10 notebooks will be the first in the industry to offer Alexa pre-installed, including the Acer Spin 3 and Acer Spin 5, which are now available at retail outlets.
Alexa will also be pre-installed on the Acer Nitro 5 Spin line of convertible gaming laptops next month. It will also be available on select Aspire, Switch and Swift notebooks, as well as on Aspire all-in-one PCs, as they expand to the manufacturer’s business partners in the coming weeks.
The first Acer notebook lines to receive the upgrade will be the Acer Spin 5 and Spin 3 convertible families on May 23 and 26, respectively. This can be done through the Acer Care Center.
Acer customers can use their Alexa compatible Acer notebooks and desktops to do more with voice control. For example, customers can ask Alexa to check the weather, make a calendar entry, create lists, answer questions or play favourite music, podcasts or audiobooks. Users can also ask Alexa to manage smart devices in the home, including lighting, thermostats and appliances, all with voice.
The Acer Spin 5 is probably the most suitable with its Acer Purified Voice technology and the four digital microphones that support far-field speech recognition. Other Acer laptops feature dual microphones that support near-field speech recognition. All convertible and 2-in-1 compatible laptops come with front speakers and provide a surround sound experience.
