Samsung unveiled its upcycling initiative, where old Galaxy S5 phones are working for bitcoin mining.
With 40 old Galaxy S5 accommodated in a tower, Samsung demonstrates the utility of the old devices. SO, providing an opportunity for your scrap to get something more.
How to do Bitcoins Mining on Android Smartphones and Tablets
40 Samsung Galaxy S5 becomes a platform to mine Bitcoin
To keep in mind, an Intel i7 2600 processor has the processing power of a Galaxy S5. That is true at least in what is crypto mining. Also, the Samsung S5 can reach 2600 kh / s (Khash / sec), while the i7 reaches only 2000 kh / s.
The exciting thing is that an S5 consumes 4 watts while the i7 2600 reaches 95 watts.
These numbers show that the Galaxy S5 is more efficient to mine when comparing the performance ratio kh/watt.
Samsung did not reveal how good it is to undermine the configuration of 40 phones. But users can extrapolate the numbers and get accounts.
Apparently, it requires some extra engineering to accomplish all of this. Users can not only start building a mining platform with old phones as it needs a particular operating system for this purpose. All this runs with an operating system specifically developed by Samsung for this demonstration.
However, it’s a compelling proof of concept that Samsung showed at a recent developer conference in San Francisco.
