The fact is that these solutions will continue to increase their costs almost indefinitely, and therefore the most important international consulting companies are trying to explain to users when this phenomenon will stop. Jon Erensen, head of semiconductor research at Gartner, has tried to give a date when this trend could reverse.
RAM and SSD prices, falling since 2019
The first thing we need to mention about this situation is basically why it is happening. The fact is that very little memory is available to meet the high demand for semiconductors in both computers and mobile devices. As a result, the price has risen in many cases. Speculation by specialists suggests that the shortage will be over by 2019 so that only then will the prices for these memories begin to fall.
Once major manufacturers like Samsung, Hynix, and others develop their own solutions for this segment, it’s time to use this to upgrade our RAM or SSD drives. In fact, there is not expected to be such an unfavorable time to buy new products as in the second quarter of 2017, so you should wait as long as possible. This situation has changed the market plans of some companies such as HP and Lenovo, which have had to rethink the prices of their equipment so that they are not unprofitable.
