ZTE presents a new smartwatch or smartphone called Nubia-α (‘alpha’) at the IFA 2018. That is not a Smartwatch at all, which is actually called a new “species” of devices.
However, it should be presented as a portable smartphone, i.e. as a hybrid between a Smartwatch and smartphone. Although it seems to be an extremely interesting concept, there is very less information about this new gadget has been revealed.
On YouTube, a video was published in which the manufacturer demonstrates the great versatility of this new device in a very practical way. In the video, it is evident that ZTE Nubia-α can revolutionize the market segment.
However, it seems extremely difficult for the manufacturer to sell this idea as a smartphone. This new device is much closer to a new generation of smartwatches.

As you can see in the video, we have a huge flexible OLED screen that adapts to the pulse, embedded in a metallic Pulseira with a very high-quality optics. There are still the various options of the possible interface, including receiving voice calls.
In addition to the large OLED screen, you can see a camera and a microphone in front of Nubia-α. There are physical buttons on both sides. Both the heartbeat sensor and the charging pins are already located on the back of the device.
Following the video, this new gadget should arrive in two colors, Black and Silver. However, ZTE did not disclose any information about its specifications. However, it was not yet possible to predict when the Nubian TET would reach the markets.
Regardless of whether it is ready for market launch or not. This is undoubtedly one of the most interesting approaches we have seen in the portable segment in recent years.
